“Gardening requires lots of water—most of it in the form of perspiration.”—Lou Erickson
It finally stopped raining and the sun shone today!! Hopefully, for at least a couple days…this quote will be true….I’ll finish planting Saturday!!
Checking my blog tonight, I realized It’s been about three weeks since I’ve been on….YIKES….time does go by fast….too fast!
I have been a bit busy…back to work…cutting more material for my quilting…checking out a new interest, Mixed Media Art (this looks like fun) and on top of that I’ve been getting my garden ready, most of it is in….Heirloom Tomatoes (my daughter’s favorite), other various varieties of tomatoes …one can never have enough tomatoes to pick, eat and can…. three kinds of peppers, cukes, broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, soy beans, onions, beets, and radishes, I know there has to be more…. but whatever, the rest will go in this weekend along with annual flowers and a few perennials. It’s that time of the year….every thing is turning green…by the way…my favorite color! I’m thinking it will be very green…since it’s been doing nothing but raining for the past 6 days. Enough is enough!
I’ve experimented this year with seasoned chicken manure, lime and epsom salts. I’m trying to keep my garden as organic as possible. I’m thinking this means, lots of weeding and being diligent in keeping those nasty Japanese Beatles off my plants! I’ll be picking up some lady bugs and praying mantis to help me with this new adventure. I’ve even decided to have my cucumbers climb up the fence this year. Hopefully I’ll have better luck finding those gems. did I mention that I love new adventures!!
Not to worry thought, even thought there’ll be a lot of work to do outside, I will still be quilting and sewing….and dabbling in my new interest, Mixed Media Art and of course reading!!!
With all of this…I may need some help coming up with a new name for my blog, something that will include all my hobbies …that will be another adventure….another day!
Happy Blogging!
Yesterday I received a message from my daughter Michelle which said, “Mom, Please blog today.” So here I am today….blogging. Yesterday I was way too busy quilting!
I wanted to finish my Log Cabin quilt top before I return to work tomorrow so I’ve been off sewing for the past couple days to finish up. (I’ve been out for 3 months mending from a broken elbow.) Well, I just finished a few minutes ago and feel proud and accomplished. Earlier this evening when I went into my sewing room, (my daughter’s old bed room) I looked at the clock and thought, Oh….I’ll be able to finish tonight, I’ll be done in just a couple hours….three and a half hours later, I’m done! The way I became lost in time this evening reminded me of an article I read earlier today about clocks and time. I reread the paragraph a few minutes ago and thought how true it was. The paragraph goes like this…”Clocks offer at best a convenient fiction….which imply that time ticks steadily, predictably forward, although often our experience shows that it often does the opposite: it stretches and compresses, skips a beat and double backs.” Must be that’s why I spent so much time sewing tonight and it really didn’t seem that long at all!
I’ll be posting pictures of my work soon. Since I’m so new at blogging, I’ll need help first. Looks like Michelle will be getting a call to teach me how to do just that.
By the Way….I may have turned my daughter’s old bedroom into my sewing/quilting/crafting room….not to worry….her new room is right down the hall always ready for when she comes home to visit!
Happy Quilting!
